Westhampton College Scholarships

The CATHERINE BELL SCHOLARSHIPwas established by the Class of 1971 in honor of Catherine Bell, who served Westhampton students as a faithful teacher and beloved registrar for many years. This scholarship offers aid to Westhampton College students with special financial needs. It is required that the applicant has a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and demonstrated financial need. Approximate Amount of Award: $24,880 (will be divided among several students)
The MAY L. KELLER SCHOLARSHIPwas established in 1976 by the Westhampton College Alumnae Association to commemorate the centennial of Miss Keller's birth, September 28, 1877. Dr. Keller was Dean of Westhampton College from its beginning in 1914 until her retirement in 1946. Her commitment to academic excellence for women formed the basis for this scholarship. The scholarship may be awarded to a rising senior of Westhampton College who has demonstrated contributions to campus life and whose cumulative grade point average is 3.6 or higher. Approximate Amount of Award: $24,990
The JANE STOCKMAN REUNION SCHOLARSHIP was established in 1986 and named in 2000 in honor of Jane Stockman, who retired as Executive Director of Alumni Affairs after 27 years of service to Westhampton College and the University. This scholarship is awarded to a deserving Westhampton College student. Priority is given to a daughter or granddaughter of an alumna. Approximate Amount of Award: $8,280
The RICHMOND CLUB SCHOLARSHIP was established in 1981 by the Richmond Club of the Westhampton College Alumnae Association. This scholarship offers financial assistance to a Westhampton College student from the Richmond area. Priority will be given to a daughter or granddaughter of a Westhampton College alumna. Approximate Amount of Award: $12,280 (may be divided among several students)
The CLASS OF 1935 SCHOLARSHIP was established in 1985 by members of the class as a special gift honoring their 50th Reunion. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Westhampton College student. Priority may be given to a student who is a Virginia resident. Approximate Amount of Award: $5,710
The CLASS OF 1941 SCHOLARSHIP was established by the members of the Class of 1941 as a special 50th year Reunion gift to Westhampton College. First priority of selection will be given descendants or relatives of the Class of 1941; second priority will be given to those related to any Westhampton College alumnae. Approximate amount of award - $13,750 (may be divided among several students)
The CLASS OF 1950 SCHOLARSHIP was established in 1990 by members of the class in appreciation of the educational opportunities given them during their student days at the University of Richmond. This scholarship shall be awarded to a Westhampton College rising sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5, who displays good citizenship and acts in a manner that enhances the University's program. Preference will be given to a relative of a member of the Westhampton College Class of 1950, or to a relative of any Westhampton College alumna, in that order. Approximate amount of award – $8,630
The CLASS OF 1952 SCHOLARSHIP was established in 1982 by the members of the class of 1952 on the occasion of their 30th reunion and in special memory of members of the class of 1952. This scholarship may be awarded to a rising sophomore, junior or senior student of Westhampton College who is a daughter or granddaughter of a Westhampton College alumna with priority given to a daughter or granddaughter of a member of the class of 1952. This student will have managed her scholarship, personal life and interests in such a way that she has made a contribution to Westhampton College. Approximate amount of the award -- $13,750 (may be divided among several students)
The CAROLE JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP- The Carole Johnson Award was established in memory of Carole Johnson, Westhampton College Class of 1961, by alumni, family and friends. At the time of her death in December 1962, Miss Johnson was a teacher at Hermitage High School in Richmond, Va. The Carole Johnson Scholarship recognizes a woman of character and faith who exemplifies unselfish service to others; potential for future contribution to the local, national and global community; leadership in extracurricular activities; academic achievement; and strength of personality. Approximate amount of award: $11,130
