The D.C. Initiative

The DC Initiative is a summer internship program organized by the University of Richmond specifically for current students and based in the Washington D.C. area. The Office of Alumni Relations manages programmatic outreach to alumni and the program itself is administered by the Career Development Center. The DC Initiative relies heavily on alumni and friends of Richmond to offer internship opportunities for our students. The University is actively trying to increase the number of internships available to students as the number of students hoping to participate in the program also increases each year.

As part of the DC Initiative, the Office of Alumni Relations also coordinates a summer-long lecture series where alumni and other friends of the University share their experiences with Richmond students. These guest speakers hail from varying areas such as sports and entertainment, politics, journalism and non-profit work.
