The D.C. Initiative

The University of Richmond seeks to develop a sustained presence in the Washington, D.C., metro area through a project called the D.C. Initiative. The D.C. Initiative is a network of administrative leaders, faculty, alumni and friends who work together to improve student recruitment, enhance educational programs, expand opportunities for career development and broaden our base of supporters.

At the core of this network is a D.C. Initiative Task Force of campus leaders and Washington, D.C., area alumni and friends of the University dedicated to the promotion of the University of Richmond and the enrichment of its students and alumni.

The specific goals of the D.C. Initiative are to:

  • Develop a sustained presence in the D.C. metro area by building a network of administrative leaders, faculty, alumni and friends.
  • Improve student recruitment efforts.
  • Develop a focused internship and career services program.
  • Create more opportunities for alumni and friends to network with each other; to volunteer to assist current students, incoming students and parents, and fellow alumni; and to enhance resources for the University.
  • Increase opportunities for faculty to work with government, non-profit and corporate sectors.

If you have any questions or comments about the D.C. Initiative, please write alumnioffice@richmond.edu.

DC Initiative student participants gathered to watch an arrival ceremony at the White House as President Bush welcomed Prime Minister Singh of India for an official state visit in July of 2005.
