Spring 2010: CAN Softball
What's Spring in D.C. without softball on the Mall?  Join the Spiders' co-ed team in the the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) league.  Last year, the team finished the season ranked amongst the top 25 of the 70 schools that were represented.  Dennick Skeels, '98, is once again leading Washington, D.C. area alumni on to the field.  


If would like to join fellow alumni for recreation this Spring and Summer, please contact Dennick.

Saturday, January 23, 2010  WDC alumni, family, and friends gathered at McFadden's
prior to the UR v. GW men's basketball game. Spider victory!


Fall 2009  Football game watching parties were hosted at Velocity 5 throughout the regular and post season.  D.C. alumni, family and friends gathered to cheer on the Spiders as they made their way to the NCAA Quarterfinals!

Saturday, November 14  The WDC Alumni Chapter and the Spider Club of the University of Richmond invited alumni, friends and family to a tailgate brunch prior to the Spiders vs. Georgetown Hoyas football game.  A great time was had by all!  Another Spider victory!

Thursday, June 18, 2009  The WDC and NoVA Alumni Chapters invited alumni, family and friends to Wolf Trap for an evening of music, food and fun!  Dinner was held on the lawn prior to the Huey Lewis & The News concert with special guest Paul Thorn.

Friday, December 19, 2008  Alumni, family and friends gathered at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern for a game watching party: Richmond Spiders vs. Montana Grizzlies in the NCAA Championship Game.  Spider victory!

Saturday, December 13, 2008  Alumni, parents and friends gathered at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern and cheered the University of Richmond Spiders to victory over the Northern Iowa Panthers in the NCAA Semifinals Football Game.

Saturday, December 6, 2008:  Alumni, family and friends gathered at Crystal City Sports Pub to cheer on the Spiders to victory over the ASU Mountaineers in the NCAA Quarterfinals Football Game.

Summer 2008  Captained once again by Dennick Skeels, '98, Washington, D.C. area alumni teamed up in a co-ed softball league sponsored by the Capital Alumni Network (CAN).  Congratulations on a 10-4 record - placing 15th out of the 70 participating schools!

Friday, July 18, 2008  The annual trip to Wolf Trap was a great success!  Alumni, family and friends gathered for dinner prior to the concert with the Pat McGee Band and special guest Sister Hazel.

Saturday, May 3, 2008  Alumni, family and friends gathered in The Plains, Virginia for the 10th Annual University Row at the 83rd running of the Virginia Gold Cup.

Friday, December 7, 2007 The Washington, DC & Northern, VA alumni chapters returned to the Crystal City Sports Pub to watch the UR vs. App State NCAA semifinal football game.

Saturday, December 1, 2007 Alumni and friends from the Washington, DC & Northern, VA alumni chapters gathered to cheer the Spiders onto victory at a game watch party during the NCAA quarterfinal game against Wofford at Crystal City Sports Pub.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007   The Washington, DC Alumni Chapter and the University of Richmond Alumni Association invited alumni, parents and friends to the National Geographic Society to welcome Dr. Edward L. Ayers as the ninth president of the University of Richmond.

Friday, August 3, 2007 Alumni, family and friends cheered on the Washington Nationals vs. St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed a pre-game dinner on the Red, Hot, and Blue picnic patio.

for this year's annual trip to Wolf Trap.


Saturday, May 5, 2007  The Washington D.C. Chapter joined local alumni organizations for the 9th Annual University Row at the 82nd running of the Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase race.

The Washington, D.C. Alumni Chapter invited young grads and the Class of 2007 to La Tasca in Arlington to network and socialize at a New Year's happy hour. 

Fall 2006: Co-ed Flag Football

After a successful softball season, the Washington D.C. Alumni Chapter competed in a co-ed flag football league sponsored by the Capital Alumni Network (CAN). Coach Dennick Skeels, '98 lead the Spiders who were decked out in real game jerseys courtesy of Ken Hart, UR's equipment manager.


  November 14 and 15, 2006   Dr. Jorge Haddock, Dean, Robins School of Business, and a Washington, D.C. host committee hosted two receptions at the Ritz-Carlton and the Congressional Country Club, respectively, to celebrate the Robins School of Business’ inclusion in BusinessWeek’s list of top 25 Undergraduate Business Programs.

Saturday, November 4, 2006  The Washington, D.C. Alumni Chapter and the Capital Alumni Network invited alumni to opening night as the Washington Wizards took on the Boston Celtics.
