The Bonner Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) invites the UR community and alums to attend this week’s Brown Bag Discussion. Five years ago, the CCE initiated the discussion series in support of its mission to bring together campus and community members in collaborative study, reflection, and action to address contemporary social issues. A speaker leads a presentation on a critical social issue and then opens up the floor to discussion. In addition to providing plenty of food for thought, Brown Bags also provide free pizza.

Third Practice celebrates its ninth year of bringing new electroacoustic music and experimental video to Richmond audiences. Third Practice is dedicated to commissioning and presenting cutting-edge work for computers, acoustic instruments, video projection, and surround sound.

This year’s festival will feature concerts by ensemble-in-residence eighth blackbird and internationally renowned clarinetist Arthur Campbell. Third Practice also will present works for solo instruments and computer, video, sound art, and other works by composers from around the United States and Europe.

The Bonner Center for Civic Engagement (CCE), founded in 2004, strives to bring together campus and community members in collaborative study, reflection, and action to address contemporary social issues. CCE staff members and students will be on hand to talk about their own experiences in the Greater Richmond community, including research into social and civic issues, academically grounded internships, and service. Alumni are invited to see what the CCE is up to and how we have grown by attending an open house in any of our three locations.

15th Annual Pre-Game Picnic Under the Tent

Alumni and friends are invited to a pre-game picnic at the annual Homecoming Football Game. Look for the big white tent located at the end of the VIP South Lot. This event, sponsored by the University of Richmond Alumni Association (URAA), features live music with Bart Chucker, R’86.

Cheer on the Spiders as they take on the Villanova Wildcats. This afternoon start will give you plenty of time to socialize before and after the game, but don’t miss the hard hitting action when Head Football Coach Mike London’s, R’83, exciting team charges onto the field.
